I'm wanting to build up a long block for my Lightning. What year core 5.4L motor should I select and are there any major differences in years that I should avoid?

I'm figuring I would like to just get a 5.4L Triton motor from a vehicle, get it down to a Long block state, and once built swap over the Lightning specific pieces. I'd be using new rods for sure and new pistons, maybe a new crank if the normal 5.4L engines have poor cranks. Might be interested in trying some TFS heads if they will work, anyone know much about these?

Thanks!

Ron

Anyone know anything about the front covers and oil pans? Are they the same configurations on say a 5.4L F150 as the Lightning?

Thanks,
Ron
