Well as some of you may know my stock motor let go not long ago so its time for a rebuild. I like to do things one time so this will be quite an expensive build...but its cheaper to do it once the right way than twice the wrong way.

Im looking to make 900hp on boost and then hit it with a 100 shot. I want to put the car in the mid 9's with the 6 speed/IRS conservatively for now and eventually go auto/solid axle and have what should be an 8sec street car.

I already placed an order with MMR for their 1000S with the Boss block upgrade which makes it a 5.3. I also ordered a set of Livernois Stage 3 ported heads with oversize valves. Waiting on the funds for the blower and fuel system and other little things.

Looking for some opinions/suggestions on a few things though...

Any suggestions on what cams to run? I know I should probably go custom grind but Im open to anything.

Not sure if my 1 3/4" headers will be big enough or should I sell them and go with 1 7/8" and a full 3" exhaust?

What boost should I see with that motor/head combo and a 3.5 upper & 2lb lower? Im not sure what pulleys to order... I want to run roughly 20psi on pump gas and 28-30psi on C16.


Ill be updating this thread and posting pics as I start getting parts and doing some work on the car which hopefully wont be too long...just got into a motorcycle accident so Ill be out of comission for a little while.

Nice man this is going to be a sick ass build that's for sure!!! For the exhaust question at this point I'd go ahead and sell the 1-3/4'' primaries.. You are looking to make 900 and then a hit.. I would do some 1-7/8'' primary heads to a 3.5'' collector 3.5'' x-pipe that bottlenecks down to a 3'' then a 3'' catback.. Kooks makes this type of x-pipe for there 1-7/8'' primary headers I believe.. the people that are going to say blah blah 3.5'' is way to big blah blah trust me.. If you don't call kooks and ask them and I'll bet you they will say the same thing..

As for the cams, I wish I could help you but you are right a set of custom cams is probably going to be a key ingredient on this build..

Any thoughts on the 4.0 Whipple? Theres not much info out there about it...I found one thread on here and it was inconclusive

You would need a large CID motor and run 30 psi or more at all times to make it worth it.

I'll never understand builds like this, what in the world are you going to do with 1,000hp it's insane your going to need like a parachute or something!!!

Lol I don't know...figured I'd just go to car shows with it or something. :shrug:

I say full 3 inch exhaust. I might put some coin down and get a boss block myself. As of now I'm keeping my 4.6 and getting head porting, custom cams, diamond pistons and all ARP hardware. A 2.9 will be sitting on top of it. I'm going with the kooks step headers, 3 inch magnaflow cats, Dr.Gas 3 inch X pipe, magnaflow 3 inch race mufflers, Dynomax 3 inch tails and Magnaflow 4 inch tips. Here is a pic of the catback.

Sub'd! Going to be a bad ass build!

And yes, those are magnapacks. The only muffler that Magnaflow sells that is cylinder shape are the packs.
