A friend tries this recently in a county with no smog requirement. He was trying to use his other friends address.

The DMV wanted proof of residency such as a utility bill or mortgage statement.

This was just last year I believe.

Yep.. that's the way to do it

Yeah I live a few miles from the next county (Mariposa) where smog is not required but like its been said DMV wants proof of residency----they are on to people trying this. I think if you did this before they wanted proof- your good. I would have moved from calif. about 10 years ago but have too many family members here and my wife wouldnt budge.

Procharger has them but they are very limited. I couldn’t find one for my 01 cobra although I wouldn’t need it anyway. Where I live if I don’t drive more than 5000 miles a year then emissions are exempt anyway.

So OP can call them and possibly get a kit when/if available?

Do they do runs of them or are they just selling the last remaining kits?

Not sure it’s been a while since I’ve seen them. I was just browsing their site and happened to stumble upon them. Could call they are good people to talk to.

i am sure there are plenty of california smog legal supercharger kits for sale. the problem you have is your year of vehicle is not considered when these companys are making the supercharger kits. they want you to get a currently produced model and they will be able to warranty the fact that their supercharger didnt blow up your motor.

to super-charge your car you would need to add the larger fuel injectors and change the ECU to spray those injectors correctly. these are the 2 things that california doesnt want. they just want to see stock components with an aftermarket supercharger.

this 99-01 model mustang is what it is, a high revving 32 valve de-tuned nascar motor.

the 03-04 was meant to be supercharged, so they made aftermarket kits.

the new 5.0 is what is selling so there is opportunity to sell superchargers to this market so they make low boost bolt on kits, that use stock injectors and a CARB legal tune to spray the stock injectors more to keep the AFR safe.

i have a 2001 roush with a 03 cobra swap and it was way more expensive than the car is worth so its not really recommended, but i do drive a supercharged mustang in california and it passes smog at the Ref no problem.
