Camshaft welding? What's that about?

This is my first foray into SVT Performance.com. I have put 143K miles on my '97 SHO with very few problems, save a transmission at 103K, and self installed spark plugs at 120K.

I have seen several references here to the need for having the camshafts welded on V-8 SHO engines. What is meant by "camshaft welding"? What is welded to what?

Camshatfs welded to the cam sprokets. If the sprockets spin your engine is toast. Go to SHOforun.com and do a search for "cam welding". You'll get all the info you need there.

My God! If you plan to keep your SHO, DEFINITELY have your cams welded, otherwise you are on borrowed time.
