can my posi rearend go out???

I have a 2001 gt automatic, recently when i leave redlights even with very little gas it spins out, like its peg legging. and i got the tires roatated this morning and they said the left rear was more worn than the right. Could the posi go out???

Yes .The stock posi has clutches that cn wear.Simple fix.Just get the clutch packs replaced. They run about 55.00 for the parts and what ever the labor is local.SHouldn't cost more than 100.00.

I know it's not a mustang bu it does have the same center diff.
My beater/daily driver(in sig) 89 crown vic just got her first set of diff clutches @175,000 miles, same symptom,
the old girl doesn't get leaned on that hard though...but I though you might be encouraged by that longevity story.
