Car noise

i have my 95 chrys lebaron its a pos Daily driver and i need it to last a bit longer untill i get the title to my ranger butttt anyway

when ever i let off the gas there is a noise coming from the left side like where the tranny is.... ive had some people say the cluthes are going out (its an auto by the way) i have also had people tell me its a rod knocking but it only does it when i let off the gas.? one of my buddies told me it could be something to do with the Air in the engine but i have no idea

anyone have any ideas?

it sounds like a piece of plastic or something hitting something hard over and over again like its flapping in the wind but i have been under it and everything and cant find anything loose
