My buddy recently purchased a fox roller with an out of state title that the previous owner didn’t have signed by the owner whose name is on the title. He took it to try and register the car in his name, but of course the county clerks office told him they couldn’t do anything without the previous owners and his signature on the title. They told him to contact the previous owner and have him sign. The issue being is that the car has been in roller state for years, and just trying the internet search for the previous owner that lived across the country comes up nothing. What’s his best course of action?

Not sure exactly. Maybe do a quick search and verify that the car isn't reported stolen first?

True that’s a good start. He contacted the guy he bought it from, and he stated he bought it at a car show parts swap years ago, and didn’t even think about having the seller sign it because he was just going to make a track car out of it. The guy that’s been in possession of it the past eight years or so is an older guy with several other cars so he doesn’t think the man is lying to him. Just kind of not doing his due diligence when it comes down to the title signing.

Why don't you try posting the guys name and town (not his address) and see what turns up.
