i had one go out on my 04 grand marquis. i called the mechanic and he said 'it would be $129.00 for the converter and $100.00 for the labor. a buddy told me he thought it might be under warranty. i called the dealer and they said' it was covered for 8 years or 80.000 miles. if you have one check to see if your covered before you spend the money.i guess most guy's on here don't have cat's,but keep it in your memory back for those that do.

That cat for $129 sounds fishy, good thing your buddy said something.
I took all my cats off and pass emissions.

Another thing that some people don't know is that used cats (full ones not gutted) go for pretty good money these days. Your mechanic will probably turn around and sell your old one for as much as $75-$85.

Did you really pass emissions without cats. Nevermind I guess they don't put the sniffer on the obd 2 in wisconsin.
