Cel....

Well, 2 nights ago I started the car and drove out of the parking lot and I was confronted with a CEL. I pulled off into another parking lot, grabbed the livewire and ran a diagnostic on the code as the car was running.

I was shown the following... the car P1000 code is normal...evap just never seems to want to set. However the lean codes are worrying me.

I turned the car off and ran the diagnostic again and it only came up with the P0171

I detuned the car and returned it to stock. Then reloaded the street tune, and the CEL was no longer there....

Fast forward to last night, I went to turn the car on and the CEL reared its nasty little head again.

Anyone have any ideas what might cause this?

When I was in the trunk I heard the KB BAP kind of buzzing, is that normal or is my BAP dead?

P0171 - System Too Lean (Bank 1)

Possible Causes:
  •  Ethanol content in the fuel
  •  Fuel filter plugged or dirty
  •  Damaged or worn fuel pump
  •  Leaking fuel pump check valve
  •  Leaking or contaminated fuel injectors
  •  Low fuel pressure or running out of fuel
  •  EVAP purge valve is leaking when the canister is clean
  •  Fuel supply line restricted
  •  Fuel rail pressure (FRP) sensor bias
  •  Exhaust leaks in the exhaust manifold gasket or mating gaskets before or near the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
  •  Vacuum hose disconnected on exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system module (ESM) applications
  •  EGR valve tube or gasket leak
  •  EGR vacuum regulator solenoid leak
  •  Air leaks after the mass airflow (MAF) sensor (if equipped)
  •  Vacuum leaks
  •  Positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) system is leaking or the valve is stuck open
  •  Incorrectly seated engine oil dipstick
  •  Intake air turbulence due to incorrect air filter
  •  Contaminated MAF sensor (if equipped)
  •  Damaged MAF sensor (if equipped)

Crap....looks like I have a laundry list of things to check.

Reflashed to stock...and retuned again... no CEL. Let's see how long this bandaid lasts

It may be your BAP that is causing the lean condition, check the voltage to the BAP and the pumps.

What mods do you have, and have you changed anything at all? Can you leave it with the stock tune and see if anything pops up?

I had the same code and it was a connection on my CAI that was causing a vacuum leak. Took me a long time to finally figure it out. Good luck!

Long list of mods...

My KB BAP is making a buzzing sound.... not sure if that's normal.

I will check those connections...haven't messed with anything under the hood though? :/

I agree on possible vac leak, check the intake/throttle body. could also be a clogged fuel filter.

That sounds suspicious... BAP's are notorious for failing.

Dont drive hard until you get this figured out.
Been babying it.... not risking it :/

May be time for a dual vmp boost a pump...

Hopefully it is something simple :/

Update... look what I found.... could this be the culprit?

It was a super hot day the day this happened... 180* under the hood the other day..and I was driving stop and go all day... maybe the intake expanded and popped out?

Yup! That's the same fitting that was leaking on mine. I put some RTV around the base and the same for on the other side of the intake where the vacuum line comes out. I didn't do the line itself, just the grommets and it seemed to work so far...

I'm not sure that fitting was the issue... I think it was the fact that the whole damn intake was popped out somehow o_O

- Faulty EGR valve
- Fualty MAF sensor
- Fualty SIP sensor
- Supercharger bypass actuator stuck closed
- Faulty Supercharger

I think it's the EGR.
