Hey, so I'm about to need new tires on my car. That being said I'm considering changing up the size. I have 19x8.5 front and 19x10 rear. Current sizes are 255/40-285/35. I am considering going with either 295–35 or 305–35 in the rear. I would like to get a little ground clearance on my exhaust, so if I go a little bit taller tire that will help.as for the front, I think a 265 40 will be too wide. Please post some pics of your set ups. Thanks for any help!

I run 275s up front and don't think that they're too wide, my car drives and corners great but this is on 10 inch wide rims. Lots of people also running 285s up front. I wouldn't go wider than 265 on the front with your 8.5 inch wide rims and ya that might even be pushing it depending on the tire brand and how you drive your car. Are you asking if 265 is too much tire for the width of your rims or too much tire for the front of the car?

I mainly asking if it is too much of a tire for the rim, and maybe if it's too tall. I'm also curious about the rear tires. I want something a little taller than the 285.

I wouldn't go any wider than 255s on the front with your 8.5 wheels. On the back I'd stick to 285-295 with the 10" wheel.
If you want more clearance, Michelin makes a 285/40r19 MPSS

28" wouldn't look right to me. I'd like 27.1-27.6. 295 is ideal but more options at 305. Anyone with pictures of 305/35/19's on 10" rim?

Thanks!

305s belong on a 10.5" or 11" rim, and no amount of pictures or people saying they put one on a 10" rim will change that.

With the exception of certain drag tires, usually when you have more sidewall than a 19" wheel.
