Damn, bacon is friggin' expensive for the amount I buy. Are there any alternatives that would cost less?

You REALLY want cheap breakfast meat? Try Spam then. Fried Spam, with eggs cooked in the Spam grease is actually not THAT bad......

You can usually get better pricing if you go to a butcher shop and buy it in bulk. (say a 5 lb slab.) You can then either slice off pieces as you go, or have the butcher pre-slice it for you.
Another advantage is that you can have it as thin or thick as you like.

There are also some very good online smoke houses, but while their product is excellent, the price will be more than supermarket brands. (I like North Country Smokehouse.)

There is no substitute for Bacon! Plus it is the universal topping. It makes everything better. Burgers, salads, ice cream. I can't think of anything you can't put some form of bacon on.

That said, try fried Pork Roll or SPAM for your breakfast meat.
