I just had oxygen sensors replaced for my daughter's '99 CSVT, and I only drove four miles before the light came on again. This was the fifth or sixth time I've had it in for "check engine" light. Another time something with the intake manifold was replaced (that time I drove it twenty miles before the "check engine" light came on again). How many chances does Ford get to fix it so that it stays fixed? The car has 74,000 miles on it. Thanks. p.s. Our other '99 CSVT has 85,000 miles and really has been close to trouble free (never had the "check engine" light come on).

Did they tell you what codes it was throwing? Next time I would take it to an Autozone before taking it to the dealer to have the codes pulled.

I just had my CAT replaced because it went south, I forget the code that it brings up in the Computer, but I do know that Ford has an 8 year/80K mile warrenty on it. I agree go to Autozone, have them check it and see if that is the problem. Also, a month after I replaced the CAT, the CE light popped back on, only for a few days, and when I went over a speed bump it went off... Haven't seen it since. Good luck!

I have had the same issues. It comes and goes. I argued with the dealers etc, but to no avail.

Take confort in knowing this. The CEL is going to be emissions related and thats about all it is. You could drive and maybe the worst burn up a cat. If you get it stuffed(broken burnt etc it can clogg) youll notice a performance drop. Fast!

Otherwise if the car runs fine your probably 99.99% OK. Just drive it!

Big 8, I need it fixed if the car is to have any sale or trade value. Plus, as I paid to have it right, I want it right. Having it in the shop means driving a vehicle I'd rather not drive. That we've got two '99 CSVT's and that the problem is unique to only one tells me that the problem doesn't have to be.
