Lighter, faster, stronger

Ford has introduced the 2013 Cobra Jet Mustang (M-FR500-C) at the Performance Racing Industry Show in Orlando, Florida.

Designed for NHRA Stock and Super Stock racing, the updated model has a lighter body, a revised suspension and an electric power steering system. There's also a roll cage and an upgraded braking system for improved pedal feel.

Under the hood, two 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engines are available. The entry-level variant is naturally-aspirated, while the high-performance version features a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger.

Production will be limited to 50 units and pricing starts at $85,490 (€63,390).

Love the N/A induction system. Also, that oil catch can is HUGE.

Good eye on that. Not to mention, that part just being there on a factory sold car says something about the oil consumption issues that has been going on with lots of cars. Obviously Ford has seen it.

Let FRPP know if you guys are interested in the blowers and NA intakes. Right now they are only going to offer the accessory drive system for the blower. The blower you may have to go through Whipple(still up in the air) and the intake MIGHT be offered in very limited quantity to only racers and it will be pricey on a limited run. If you guys are happy with the Boss intake that's fine just saying that if there are items you like to see happen in the FRPP catalog be sure to let them know so they can determine the size of the market so they have a clearer picture on their ROI(return on investment).

As for anyone interested in buying a CJ there are still a few available but I look for them to be sold out within the next few weeks. The had 19 of them left. You can order from any Ford dealer but they preferr you to order from a Ford dealer that is also an FRPP dealer. They will start building them this summer. Part number is actually M-FR500-CJ.

NHRA are still working on a rating for them to which class they will be placed. I expect them to be rated at 350-370hp ;-)

I look for it to be in B-Stock as its natural fit maybe C-stock but more then likely will be B based on weight and how the 2012 5.0 CJ is rated. Look for low 10s@130mph.
