Cobra mod motor cam swap?

I am helping a friend of mine replace the cams in his GT. The car is 1998 GT with a built 97 32v 4.6L Mod motor in it. What side of the motor would be considered the right side? Would that be the drivers side? Also, the cams are Comp cams and the Ford cam tool doesn't work on it. How can we degree the cam without the cam tool?

degree a 4v cam = lots of time.

anything on a vechicle is reffered to as if u were sitting in the drivers seat.as in left front would be drivers side front etc.

i have yeat to change the cams on a 4v yeat,but there are dots on cam gears and crank gear. line up dots on gears to dots(or colered links) on chain.this will get u running but not degreed 100%.
