I have been reading these posts for awhile, I struggled on
whether or not to buy a cobra, but could'nt get my dealer
to see things my way. I ended selling my saleen and ordering
a Mach 1. Anyway I'm sorta new here and you guys may already know this, but I have a friend who is a ford dse and he told me
that the new cobra is underated. It actually came up first rated at
460 horsepower (10 lb. pulley) and ford said that was too hot
and to detune it (they were worried about insurance on a car
with over 400 hp.) So they put the 8lb pulley on, a little more
restrictive muffler and less agressive fuel and timing curves.
This resulted in415 to 420 hp. Still too hot for ford, so they just
underated it. He also said that the weakest on they tested
put out 367 at the wheels with most close to 380. Man I really
envy you guys with a few easy mods you guys will be smoking
alot of people. Good luck with your cobras!!

Dont forget the SS ...

Please do not forget all of the SS "Genero's" that will be in the mirror even before they discontinue that junk!

When he said too hot... was that because the intercooler wasn't able to handle the extra heat? If so, should we look at a better intercooler setup if we go with the mods?

46mustang, I first ordered a black, then changed my mind to
red.

P.S. 98kobra, I think you willbe okay with intercooler,
although we may have to wait and see when these
cars are out and people start doing it, if i had one,
I change the pulley, change the exhaust, and have
somebody burn a calibration for it on the dyno, man
i cant wait to drive one of these...

I am asuming since ford is useing the same eaton on the lightings the will use the same intercoolers. If this is the case I remember reading an article on how effecient the intercooler was. Something like at 22 psi and +300 degree inlet temps. It acted as if it didn't even notice, dropping tempatures over 200 degrees. No upgrades are needed. Lets just say ford did there homework. Crank up the boost!!!

Is the intercooler and the lower intake one piece or two separate pieces? Anyone know?
