I was driving back from meeting a guy that I bought a Garmin from today and
my AC started acting weird, like it wouldn't blow cold for about 5 mins
and then it would. Finally I noticed my Temp gauge going into the high "normal" range. I was in bumper to bumper traffic with having to stop and wait in
traffic at every light. It happened, it went into the red. I pulled right over
into a GP gas station, opened the hood and all my Coolant was purging out
of the top of my Radiator. (16psi cap). I waited till it cooled enough to open
the cap and put a gal of water in it and started the car, it stayed in the
normal range for about 1-2 mins and then started creeping up again. I
shut it down and called for a flat bed. Went to Ernie Ford in Tampa where
they tried running a code reader on my cpu, but I got a chip so that
only told them that a alarm (thief alarm) had gone off. I have after market
alarm sys. And the Hi temp code, they reset it all and then checked the
cooling fan with a power probe. When he pressed it on the connector the
fan came on!! Bingo!! Bad connector right? Yeah and a burnt connector and
a bad fan drawing to much amps.
So Fan motor, connector, New thermostat, coolant flush and AC refrigerant check is gonna cost me $1062.00. Plus I rented a Toyota Corolla at
$62 a day. (hopefully only one day) Of course they didn't have the Fan
in stock, they had to order it. It will be here tomorrow though so I am
alittle bummed out right now. An expense I wasn't counting on.
The boss (Wife) isn't to happy about it either I can tell you that.....
At least the Garmin GPS works okay. Got a good deal on that! LOL
Gotta look at the bright side of some things. LOL
