Cold weather issues?

My 96 cobra just crossed over 103k miles. Now that we are getting into the colder weather (I'm in VA), my car is starting to act a little funky. One thing that it does is it takes forever to warm up. I will let it idle and warm up for about 5-10 minutes before I drive it, and even after driving it for around 10 miles, the coolant temp is sitting right around 100*, which doesn't seem normal at all. I think it might be the thermostat, but I'm not sure. The other thing it does is the idle will surge and go from 1200 rpm to 600, then back up to 1200, and so on. But this goes away once the engine warms up. Has anybody had any experience with any of these issues?

The hunting idle when cold, could be a vacuum leak, or a problem with the idle control valve.

I just got a new stat so we'll see how that goes...I plan on installing it this week. I haven't found any vacuum leaks at all. Could the hunting idle be something else maybe? It only does it when it's really cold outside
