I would say to do it right is should be a new long block. If the dealer is re-building it go for a new shortblock. Problem with a spun bearing is it puts metal everywhere. This was an issue on MY 02 M3's and they just put in a new reman. Look at DSS if you want to go aftermarket. Is the car not under warranty?? Dave

if you spun a bearing your crankshaft most likely needs work. the crank isnt meant to spin with both bearing shell halves on the same side.

If the bearing spun the crank will not be in spec. It needs to be turned.
