I drive to Colorado for work, and to my Sisters. It's 500.4 miles from my driveway to hers one way, 8 hours (even after going into mountain time) at over 80mph with a top off before leaving town and a splash and dash in Colby or Oakley depending on how bad the wind is. Miss the Escape as its 1000-1500 miles of driving each trip. I've put more miles on the mustang since October than I have in 4 years. Normal wind in Kansas is 15-20mph, but 50+ has happened several times. 14mpg in a v6 escape wasn't fun. Got 18 in the mustang at Christmas on the way out with a NW head wind. But it was a dead calm day after Xmas and I got almost 29mpg "28.7" (91, running off the waste gate with 3.31s at 85) best ever mpg... usually 24-25 with wind. My brother in law's father has a Tesla P90D (They live here in Wichita as well) they cannot do over 70mph with our "normal" winds to make it to Colby for an hour supercharge to make the remaining 2/5s of the trip. When its really windy they have to stop in Hays and Limon, and an hour charge at each. So now they usually take his wife's Lexus suv. Western Kansas, especially the NW is some of the most sparsely populatuated places in the nation. Not much to do when you wait. The kansas turnpike was supposed to only have fees the first decade, when it was made in the late 60s. It still has fees, and they keep going up. We also have the most expensive electric west of the Mississippi (excluding California.) Sent from my Note9 using Tapatalk
