Anyone purchased a Timken front hub/wheel bearing assembly recently? I got this from amazon and it is suspiciously lacking any markings on the hub, is about 5 ounces lighter than what Timken has in their catalog and the bearing just feels off for being brand new. I submitted a claim to stop fakebearings.com but I'm pretty sure I am going to return this one. I have another coming from amazon tomorrow so I'm curious what it looks like.

If you look at the photos of the hubs on Rockauto for both the Timken and Motorcraft the bearing and the hub are stamped "Koyo". Pics are not always representative but it makes you wonder. Another Amazon selection that has a pair of Timken hubs shows the same Koyo stamps.

I've had good luck with Amazon up till now. It looks like guys have gotten the same non marked timken hubs from rock auto and other reputable suppliers.

That being said I got the second one from Amazon today and it looked the exact same.

Never buy automotive parts off Amazon - years ago it was fine, but today's it's mostly fake Chinese bullshit.

Without a single marking I would say it's a fake.

I've replaced a lot of bearings in my life and never came across one without a part number or other information on it.

The last hub I replaced I was forced to use an autozone piece because nothing else was available for a week and I couldn't miss work.

Even that bearing had 2 different numbers on it. One being a part number that cross referenced to others.

Send it back and write a detailed review.

Just experiencing cheep bearing manufacturing. Had an original 207kkr Fafnir bearing. Price range was $12 to $120. I pulled the trigger on the $12 ones. It's going on a carriage pulley. It arrived and didn't have the warer/dust seal ring. Just Chinese junk. It should be illegal to compare or make similarities without making dissimilarity statements of the compared item.

Got the Rock Auto set today. Identical to the Amazon ones. I did happen to notice that the Rock auto ones had a little laser marked part number on the outer machined edge of the hub. I looked back at the Amazon ones and they also have them. Must have missed them looking for the larger markings on the bearings or hub casting. I have to assume this is the new norm for the Timken bearings and the pictures with koyo bearings and castings are just old stock photos.

Guess I am going to install the rock auto ones and hope for the best.

It hurt a little bit too pull these off for the new timkens. USA made ones lasted 27 years and over 175k miles. Hopefully the new ones aren't complete junk

As my encounter goes, my recent purchase on the bearings deliverd were void of any markings. This is going to pose a huge problem for future repair and replacement. Fortunately I live in a manufacturing area with a local bearing supplier. They always look for markings first vs measuring. This helps identify load pressures also, not just fitment. This will be detrimental in the near future. All by design. Design obsolescence.

I’ll probably buy from ftbr when the time comes.
I made a post on the apocalypse performance Facebook page which looks like the unfortunately deleted for whatever reason. A guy had commented on there he bought from ftbr and their timken hub was identicalto what I got from Amazon.
