Cruise Control won't work

Hey everyone,

I'm new to this forum and to owning an SVT contour so I'll probably be pretty active on here for a while. (I hope.)
Among other problems that came along with my newly acquired 99 Contour, one particularly annoying one is that the cruise control doesn't work. Is this a common problem? Is the "cruise" light supposed to come on when it is pushed on?

there is no cruise light.

does the horn work? does the airbag light blink? if so it might be the cloack spring. otherwise you will need to run the pin point tests from the ford service manual to find out.

The horn does work. The airbag light does not blink. Thanks, I'll check out the manual.

Clock or Cloack Spring

My horn and cruise don't work and my airbag light blinks! Where is the spring, how do I get to it and what do I do with it?

need to remove the airbag and steering wheel to get to the clock spring.
