Have a 97 Buick Skylark as a daily driver and am experiencing some issues. At times it acts as if it has trouble getting into gear. When I accelerate from a stop the engine will be revving but the car will be barely moving.

Also when I'm going say 25mph I will try to accelerate and the engine will rev but the acceleration is terrible. At 50 mph the car will shudder back and forth.

Any ideas will be appreciated car has 108k miles and I got it for $1000 so anything serious I will just get a new car.

def sounds like trans slip. grab a 3800 supercharged motor/transmission combo out of a junkyard and slap it in and have fun.

Will check fluid level, hopefully it can make it through the winter. Helps my work commute is only 2 miles. Thanks

Edit, was low on fluid thanks for the help.

 It's usually the simple things that are often overlooked.

Just want to point out, make sure you drive the car a short bit to let the transmission fluid heat up. In park with the parking brake on and engine running, check the fluid level.
