My wife went to the dentist and was told she needed 8 sealants. I've never heard of this before and we assumed it was a new type of method in filling cavities.
Well, today she went in thinking she was shceduled for this work when in fact it was the 21st of next month. Anyway, while there she found out sealants were just a preventive measure and not cavity fillings. Total cost would've been $184.

I'm pretty upset as I think the dentist tried to pull a fast one on my wife by not telling her what "sealants" were during the intial visit.

What the hell are sealants???? How long do they last? Worth it or a gimmick?

:( :cuss:

I have a few sealants, and it is preventative. It fills in cracks to prevent them from turning into cavitys.. I personally would rather have sealants done now, then to wait for cavitys to be drilled out, and filled.
