diablo chip question

My buddy is selling his lightning and he said he would give me his chip for next to nothing, my question is....will a lightning chip work on a cobra? Can I just take his chip and reprogram it for my computer, is it all based on the chip or is it based on the program?

It's must be a 4-bank chip, a delta chip or a revolution chip. The regular 1 bank chip will not work. It needs to be able to except a 4 bank program.
