Diff or tranny slippage when turning left.

Sometimes when I turn left it feels as if my torque converter slips. It only happens when I turn left so I assume that it is the differential.

The problem is not persistent and it only happens like 1 out of 10 times I turn left.

The truck is a 2000 with 95,000 miles on the odo.

What could this be and should I be concerned???

Thanks.

You feel a chatter or shudder through the truck right? That's the clutches in the differential going due to normal wear. You can live with it, replace the clutches or go with a detroit locker or true trak. The last two will completely eliminate this from ever happening again.

Nope not at all.

At first I thought it was the torque converter but it has to be the diff. since it is only while turning left.

I hate the smell of gear oil. Specially when it gets in your hair.

Thanks

I'm sure you checked trans fliud level right? Engine/trans warm, parked level with engine running, trans in park.

Just looked up the Detroit Locker and Tru trak.

They are like $500

Is there anything cheaper out there???

I don't really race my truck or anything.

It wouldn't be hard for rebuilding what he has to end up costing more than a new diff. Changing clutches in a 9.75 isn't a 30 minute DIY job that costs $50 in parts like an 8.8 or most other clutch diffs.
