Is there a site you know of that lists all the changes between the years.

I'm searching for a daily driver Mustang and would like to know the pros and cons of each year.

Had an 88 LX hatch years ago. I know it was speed/density and not mass air.
No options. 5 spd and 3.08's. It ran a 13.9@99, I was very pleased with it's stock performance.

What is your favourite year and why?

I prefer the LX hatchbacks just because the have a clean look to them. Unfortunately I couldn't find one in my price range and settled on a 90 GT 5spd. I was under the impression 88 was the 1st year for mass air and 87 was the last for speed density, but I'm very new to the 5.0 world.

87 and 88 are speed density, however the california cars were mass air in 88. then in 89-93 all of the cars were mass air.

87-91 had forged pistons, while 92 and 93 had hypereutectic pistons in them.
that being said i prefer a, '89-'91 notch because of the pistons/mass air. and a notch over the hatches because of weight.

Minor changes between A/C controls between 87-89 and 90-93.
140mph speedo guage was offered from 89+.
90+ had larger fenderwells to compliment the 16" pony's.
Early 92's had forged pistons like the 87-91's.
No airbags from 87-89.
I know some had 2.73's and some had 3.08's....I'm not sure which ones. My 87' GT had 2.73's.
The headrests were shorter 90+. :D

That's all I can think of off of the top of my head.

I'd prefer an 89' if I had a choice.

'89 was by far the best all around year.

Had locking gas door, no airbag, tilt wheel, mass air, armrest, GT seats/interior, forged pistons, and non-clearcoat paint.

Little things went downhill after that.

Non-clearcoat paint is definately NOT a good thing. Ever wax your car? Notice how the rag is the same color at the end of the day?

I think I waxed my 87' like three times before getting too scared that NO paint was gonna be left on it.

Thanks for the replies. After looking at about 5 Mustangs it came down to a mint virgin 89 LX and a pretty "accessorized" 93.

I was on the fence for a bit but the 93 came through at a pretty sweet deal.

I'll post some pics after I pick it up next week.
