Just a quick tip when measuring pinion preload: use a dial type wrench and measure rotational torque.
Spec is 16-29 in/lb. Also it's usually measured with the carrier out, not pushing the ring gear.
No worries though, if it was way too tight You would have burnt up the pinion bearings by now.
