AFAIK it's actually illegal to discharge the R-134 refrigerant to atmosphere. If you aren't interested in doing anything illegal, take it to a shop and ask them to discharge it for you. They usually do it for cheap/free depending on the shop. Or you can find some of the reclaim bags. Other than that I believe you open up the shrader valve on the low pressure side IIRC. Wear eye protection as the stuff can be very damaging.

It probably is illegal lol but yeah what shiftin said.

Is your car a one bolt tensioner or 3?

If it's a 3 nevermind, if it is a one let me know. You can actually swap the smooth pulley on the tensioner for a ribbed one and run the belt through it a different way to bypass the ac area and the two idlers that are over there.

It's illegal to vent to atmosphere. Take it to a shop to have it recovered. If you do vent you should probably do it in a garage so your neighbors don't report you and keep the door open because it displaces oxygen.

I just went through EPA refrigerant certification a couple weeks ago because I lost my card I got 12 years ago.
