Finally got to run my BFG R1's at Limerock on 10/24 with LNM. What a massive, intoxicating experience. I'm fully addicted. Only ran 2 sessions of ~15 mins each, so I was just sort of getting the hang of them, but so much fun. Need to start working with tire pressures, as I got the front left hot and it instantly got slick (relatively speaking), so I pulled in at that point. But otherwise, I'm now addicted. Might be starting to stockpile tires for next season when I find good deals :)

Street vs Slicks videos at LRP below. No other changes to the car between 10/8 outing and 10/24.

Lookin good!

I miss Limerock! My first "On Track" experience was at Limerick, in the mid 90's.

LRP is a fun track. Also the first place I got on track, altho that was only about 5 or 6 years back. Managed to only run street tires all this time, so the switch to the slicks was a blast. Exceeded my expectations.

FWIW I sell continental take offs for 200 bucks /set of 4..central Florida

Thanks - I just grabbed a set for $200 that had one heat cycle, but I think I'll be needing more next season! A couple friends might also be interested. How many heat cycles do the tires you have typically have?

Thanks

How do you get that awesome display? How does one get involved in these sessions? Looks like a big difference even without looking at the times you can tell the car is going faster.

The video is all with Harry's Lap Timer Pro (Grand Prix edition) in combination with my GoPoint BT1 OBDII interface. It's all sync'd up on the iphone and I use the iphone camera to capture the video. All my video is captured in 720p, not 1080, to save space. It is, in my opinion, the best budget setup for data collection and video footage.

It felt like I was running at 1.1x speed. Quite different from what I have become used to. But very, very fun!

Dude. Welcome to slicks. But now you'll never go back so be ready to embrace it fully. Lol. Oh and you gotta be doubly accurate with pressures. They need to be right.

You got that right, I'm the tire specialist for Phoenix Performance and could write a book on it.

Yes, I will be logging tire pressures next season carefully. I've always been pretty good with my street tire track setup with pressures, but lots to learn with slicks. Can't wait for the spring...
