Does anybody know about cutting springs?

When you cut the stock springs, does it stiffen the spring rate or make it softer? I am not cutting any springs so dont send in the flames. I have steeda springs on my car and they are perfectly fine. PS I am working on up grading my 01 vert to a 03 vert.

The spring rate will increase when you cut them.

I cut the springs on my 03 to lower the rear and then ended up lowering the front. It will stiffen it up a bit. I darn sure like mine. One coil max will not dramatically alter the ride.
