I am being told locally here that Gates only makes a 73 5/8 or a 74 5/8 belt, but nothing in between.

Is this correct or bad information? Either way, what are you guys using with a 2.9/2.93 pulley and NO idler? I don't want a gatorback because I am using a RR pulley.

thanks

Part stores can be gay like that when they don't have the part in stock and they just want to sell a part.

Hmmm. I just got off of the phone with another NAPA store and here's what he said. By the way, he had neither in stock (UltimateSVT):

080740 = 74 5/8
080733 = 73 3/4

NOTHING IN BETWEEN. Will either work and I am worried about nothing?

Who ever started that Rumor doesn't sell Gatoback Belts..
I'll start a new Rumor..The Gatorback is a better belt for any pulley..

Jim, you can use either the Gatorback Belt you are presently using or the Gates Micro-V Belt for this application. We have tested both and No Belt Shredding at all, even under wide open throttle, as our maching process to make these works. Hope this helps.

From what I understand, the sfphq design is a little different in that it does allow either belt where the RR does not. Who really knows??

hj16, that seems like it would be a 75"+ belt....you have no slip?
I'll find out Saturday. Send me a PM to remind me to give you the results after Saturday's Dyno session. I had also thought it was a tad big, but Rick said that this was the way to go.

Like I said "its sitting in my hands"

mkdiehl: Try the stock belt first. The tensioner should take up the slack on the belt. I'll be at Bear's tomorrow morning if you have some free time.
