Can anyone tell me the difference in 96 and 97 vs the 98 and up timing chain set differences?

there are zero differences
not completely true, i ran into a problem with the timing chain guides when building my motor. The one set would not fit my block(maybe the wrong ones.) the other problems was the pivot pins were too large and the timing chain guide would not go over that pin. Not sure what the problem was but just something to look out for.
