Just thought I'd let you guys know how happy I am....I finally got my parents to switch to dsl from dial-up. I just hooked it up and now I can finally use the internet while I'm home from school, plus it's saving 30 bucks a month. It was horror without it. I'm pumped and I figured everyone should know.

I dont see how dial-up is going to last much longer.

Welcome to 1998. ;) I didn't have broadband until 2005 so I feel you. I have been using the internet daily since 97 so that is a long time I was on dailup. My dad still uses it and it makes me nauseous trying to download or look at anything when I am there.

Ah the good old days of download my favorite porn. getting up and watching a movie, making something to each, checking the download, going to the bathroom. And then have the connection lost! The moment is gone and then I'd go to the gym.

i have AT&T right now, but as soon as I move, I'm getting comcast. tired of AT&T's crap, I'll be doing something on the internet, and bam right in the middle of it, the connection will go dead, so i have to stop what Im doing unplug the router and the modem, wait 30 seconds and then power everything back on and wait for the connection to be found. have to do this 3 - 4 times a day.

can't wait to switch to comcast!!!!! at least it's reliable, and it's way faster!

They can't use a satellite service?

satellite's not much better than dialup...i've known several people who use it, and it's in between the slowest dsl and the fastest dialup.

the satellite internet companies have some kind of fair usage thing where they only allow so much bandwidth, because everyone's trying to use 2 or 3 satellites at the same time, and the network can't handle it.

if they had a bunch more satellites, it might be much better.
