So my 97 Cobra dyno'ed at 434 whp and 356 wtrq. The hp seems right for the car, but the torque seems a bit low for my setup. I have seen similar setups with more torque. Question is what can I do to help that number along.

Setup:
Stock motor
Vortech V-1, 8lb pulley
Stock headers
3 inch exhaust with cats
3.55 axle gear

You're right where you need to be with that setup. Most centri cars differ close to 100rwtq from rwhp..

So you have 430rwhp, you'll have 330rwtq. That's with a B-headed car.

Keep your current exhaust for the boost and power that you're making. No sense in LT's at that power level.

Timing has a lot to do with it as well. Here is mine. Stock shortblock, full exhaust, 97 cobra cams, C heads, v2 at 6lbs and then 8lbs. 91oct. And of course an NA graph.

Long tubes help at any power level. They help through the entire curve as long as they aren't some massive 1 7/8th's tubes. You asked what would give you torque, besides switching to C heads which is significantly more LT's are your cheapest option.

Oh I'm not saying that it won't increase power. I just don't think the gains that he'll see with that little boost will be worth the cost.

BEST option OP: Throw 4.30's in it..

The stock exhaust manifolds are the bottleneck in TQ. My 96 cobra made 467/422 through a V1-T trim with Bassani mid-lengths, 42 lbs injectors and 10 lbs of boost. A good tune/headers go a long way.
