This happened on a brand new motor, it was a M62 Eaton on 2.0 Ecotec engine. The supercharger was removed and upgraded before the engine was ran.
A guy dropped a washer into the intake and didnt realize it, but it didnt bother him either when he had to grab another one to replace it.
Anyways the car was being test driven with no boost and ran find. Once we got on to the boost after a couple miles and let of I presume the washer went through the bypass valve when we left off and went through the rotors.
Not knowing what the sound was we boosted it a couple more times before determining where the sound was coming from.
Got the car back to the shop and tore it apart and found the left overs of the washer and the destruction it had caused.

That does suck, but at least it's only the supercharger that got chewed up. Had it not gone through the garbage disposal first, it could've gone as a whole washer into the engine itself and wreaked all kinds of havoc on valves, pistons, cylinder walls... or did all the bits and pieces still have their way with the engine goodies too?

Bits of the washer and/or the blower had to make its way through into the engine- I would be going nuts if that was me.

If it were my car I'd be demanding a new engine - oil pan up. No telling what damage that debris has done to the valves, pistons, rings, cylinder walls, oil pump, etc. heads might be OK with a valve job, but I wouldn't be confident of anything below the intake.

Wow. That sucks. Was the car a Cobalt SS? Send that baby to Stiegemeier and see if they can fix it up.
