so...if I were thinking of swaping out a "tired" 100k 5.0 Cobra lump....what could I replace it with relatively easily? a 5.4...5.8?

just wonderin' for possible future reference

331 and 347 are the norm. A 331 is more well rounded stroker, while the 347 is a more radical one. CHP and DSS are good companies when it comes to engines.

331 = 5.4l
347 = 5.7l

Will easily replace 289, 302 or 351w and 351 Cleveland applications

Yep, 331 or 347.
You could swap in a 351 block, but then you need the front accessories, oil pan, intake. From my understanding, it quite involved. But on the plus side, stroke it and you can make lots of power with it.

Exactly, mines at 103k and never felt better.

yup 120,000 here and and Ive recently done a full tune up and the thing drives better than my friends 02 GT with 60,000 on the clock.

But to answer the question, the cheapest 'upgrade' for when you wanna do something new would be a 306, and then if you wanna throw down some cash you could do a 331, or even step it up to a 347. If money is not an issue you can throw in a 351 windsor.

I've got 131k with the last 10k supercharged. Mine is not feeling as strong, have not dynoed or compression tested to make sure, but with the deal I got on the 331 stroker ($400 for crank, forged KB pistons & rods) I could not pass it up. A good time to install the AFR 185's I've had for 9 months!!
Hijack over for me.. :)
