Engine revving on its own all the time.

My engine, while sitting at a stop light with the clutch pushed in has started going to almost 1k rpm then drops down a little and jumps back up. It does this over and over and it feels like its doing while driving too, like little surges. The only mod I have is a K&N air intake which I put on in March. Any ideals of what might be causing this?

my 96 gt did the same exact thing, after changing intake manifolds, iacs, tps, it ended up only being a bad throttle bodie. take it iin to consideration.

Well, I feel really stupid... took one look under the hood and found the problem. The air filter had come loose! Put it back on and tighten it real good no more revving!
