i was falsely accused of sexual harassment, and it has effected my career. One of the security guards at work told people what happened, and so people at work think im a bad person. Just wondering what the laws are. The research I have done say that what they have done to me is discremination. I live in Delaware so if anyone has an advice please let me know.

yes, i lost my job. Basically this spanish cleaning lady.. i dont speak spanish, and she doesnt speak english... was asking me what i would give her money to perform.( i went online and grabed a translator website to find out what she was saying) I kept asking her what she meant and she kept saying anything. I asked her if she meant sex, adn she was like no we talked for a few more seconds, and then she left but didnt seem upset. The next morning i got a call not to ever come back to work or call anyone from work. Im a consultant and they to told my company and they dropped me. The way she told them(well what i assume, as i havent heard from them) is that i was throwning myself at her, and that i was offering her money. The thing is that i work in a locked room. It has a push button combo lock, and she shouldnt have known the number to get in. one of my co-workers gave it to her, and i dont know why. She came in and was asking me about paying her for services, and i was just asking her what she meant. No one asked my side of the story, nobody from the company cared. Im pretty much out of job for a while, because they two companys control the market, and could blackball me out of a job. Alot of the people i work with were good refrences for me as well, and they had connections for future jobs. One of my co-workers called me that day and told me that he found out because the security guard that filled on the statement was telling people what happened. He also said that he thinks it was my bosses way out of having me as an employee which makes no sense for me. I had an open ended contract, meaning he could fire me at anytime, and it was almost up. Im not mad necessarily about the job thing, It is just that they damaged my rep, and my future. He could have told me i was done and i could have found a job within days, but not now that people think im a bad person. Also i thought sexual harassment was constant abuse, so even i did do it the way she said(which i didnt) it still isnt harassment. Thanks for all your help

I would go talk to a lawyer about whether or not what you did could be taken as sexual harrasment and if not I would take the company to court to clear your name alteast so that the company coundt prevent you from getting jobs.

Dude if you are telling us everything, that is complete unlawful dismissal and you need to get a lawyer RFN.
I agree with getting a lawyer. Where in Delaware? IF you are in/near Dover a friend's wife works for a lawyer in Dover, they do devorces but lawyers know each other and i MIGHT be able to point you to the right lawyer. PM me.

dover is close enough, but the company is in wilmington, i did alot of reading online before posting this, and i from what i read the fact the guard told people is a big deal. I mean they never even asked my side of the story. There is no cameras where i sit so there is no way the could even prove she was in the room. There is a another spanish cleaning guy and i think he backed her story, even though there was no one else in the room.

oh btw in delaware it is called a right to work state. Meaning an employer can fire you for anything as long as it is not discremination, plus im a consultant meaning im not a full time employee. They could let me go at anytime. Im not really fightning about my employment, I think they ruined my name, and that is defamation
