With the new Civic coming, it looks like this is going to be a pretty solid match up. Anyone have any idea how these two will compare? Both are well over 300hp and compact cars. Should be interesting.

As of right now we aren't getting the Type R, or at least not the hatchback they have been showing off.

pretty sure civic type R isn't coming to the states and is front wheel only. Looks like the Focus RS will be the killer compact hatch for quite a while, on paper it looks far better than a WRX STI too

civic R turbo is front wheel drive 300hp, the focus is 345-350hp awd. So I think the clear winner is the focus, only thing civic has going for it, will be weight like always it will be much lighter but way down on power and FRONT WHEEL DRIVE SUCKS

By the performance numbers it looks like the Civic Type R will compete more with the Focus ST, regardless of the Type R's higher projected price. The Focus RS is in the Evo/STi territory, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's faster around a track than both of them.
