i live in columbus and waited for lima company to come home. That is something i will remember for the rest of my life there were people for 15 miles cheering them home and the police escort was huge, we had police oficers from almost every suburb in coulmbus and then some. I was just trying to imagine what it felt like to them to have that feeling of being a hero and the great deal of appreciation they were getting after such hard times. I was going to join the army about 4 years back but my life was in the wrong spot at the time, i think it will be somthing I regret till the day i die, i feel like it would have been a great feeling of accomplishment and that i did something so good for my country, my people, and myself. Hats off to all of you that served i dont take you guys forgranted.

That is truly AWSOME! I feel the exact same way. And if there is anyone on this site that serves, and Im sure there is, I want to say Thank You. Thank You for all that you do. If it wasnt for guys and gals like yourself, We couldnt enjoy the things we enjoy doing today or tommorow. We Americans take our freedom for granted. We become complacent in our everyday lives and go on with our same and dull routines. And every now again we go on our vacations and an occasional car show and live our lives. You serve this Country everyday to make sure that we can go about our same old dull routines and go on our vacations and occasional car shows. You make everything possible. I dont take nothing for granted like I once did. I enjoy my old dull routines and my vacations and the car shows a hell of a lot more now days. I believe there are a lot more people thinking the same way too. So Thank You and God Bless every single one of you.

LS1marine, the commerical would have lost the meaning of appreciation, and would be a recruting tool for one particular branch of service if they had been in blues, class a's etc etc. Although it is stupid to just wear the uniform around especially(sp?) you marines and most of the army now i guess, those new uniforms are butt ass ugly. Keep in mind though alot of civilans don't know the shyt i go through in the air force, and can't even imagine the kind of dedication it takes to be a marine.

i just thinks it dump period to wear military uniforms in a airport think about it if u were going to try and take over a plane and u see some one in their uniform who is the first person who u are going to kill the guy u think that might cause a problem....take marine as and example we are told not to were moto shirts or say moto stuff becasuse if something did go down we want the element of suprise but that is just my .02$ o and they also wear it in the mall i mean how gay is that

That's great, but we shouldn't even be over there in Iraq! Created more enemies and lost too many lives

I lost a friend I grew up with over in Iraq, I just don't think it was worth it!

I agree ls1, but I understand why they did it for the commercial, as ssj4 explained. I know we weren't allowed to wear our BDU's when we were on leave, always charlies, and even then when coming to and from base. But for all intents and purposes of the commercial, it's a good one.

I served in Afghanistan in '03 and did so with pride. I too lost a great friend, who was a member of my team. We were like brothers. When I read stupid stuff like that, it let's me know you've never wore boots a day in your life. We have a volunteer force, no one made your friend join up. It's sad he was killed, but I know my bud died doing what he loved and so did so many others.
