ok I found a 95' locally. its very clean ant only 70,000 origional miles. but the guy parked it to remove the "emissions crap" so he said, and now it wont start. He says it just back fires almost like the timings off. What do you all think?

I went and looked at the truck yesterday, and sure enough when you try to start it it backfires bad. like the timing it 180 out. he did say he pulled the distributor to replance the lower intake gasket so i guess he could have put it in 180 out. but has any one had problems with the egr and smog delete?
