Ok I've searched and still can't find a really good explanation of how to get the old fuel filter off. So far I've disconnected the two small black metal clips that clamp onto the filter and the fuel line. Now I just cant seem to get the filter out of the fuel lines.

I purchased a dissconnect tool pictured but I don't know if it is the right one or how to use it if it is. Anyone have any help for me please. Thanks.

That exact tool bent one of the little metal retaining tabs while trying to remove my stock filter feed hose.

Had to literally destroy the fitting with sheetmetal cutter to get it off of the tophat feed hardline.

....but it worked fine on the fuel filter.

Make sure it is jammed all the way in before pulling on the fitting or filter.
Be certain the tabs disengage or you will bend them.

I guess that's what I'm confused on. What am I jamming into where? I don't see any tabs or anything? Looking for a little more direction if you could help. Thanks.

you take the tool, close it around the end of the filter and slide it into the fitting. Then push kinda hard and tug on the end of the metal fuel line end.
