Grinding noise

Drove the Cobra to work one morning and everything was fine. Got in it that evening to go home,started it up and as soon as I do a very loud metallic grinding noise starts coming from the car. At first I thought a pulley had seized but later isolated it to the transmission. Shifting feels fine,but the clutch engagement is right of the floor now,at first the noise changed with the clutch now its a constant grinding noise like fingernails on a chalkboard. Throwout Bearing possibly? and I drove it 30 miles home very slowly like this,any possible extra damage as a result of this? going to start pulling the transmission next week

Could be the TOB. Pull the inspection cover and look in there. See if it spins freely.
