My buddy wants to build a low budget 5.0. We just got a clean set GT40 Heads (Not GT40P) ported with over sized valves re-done and 1.7 Rockers. Now were looking for an Intake Manifold to go with this package. I told him to go with a Ford Explorer Upper and Lower. Would a Ford Explorer (GT40) Upper and Lower work fine with a 1991 LX Hatch? Were not looking for serious horsepower. We just want a few more ponies. The GT 40 Tubular Intake Manifold would be a great combo for this but everyone wants to much $$$$$$. Were going to find out regardless this weekend when we venture out towards the local Junk yard. Ford Explorer...anybody?

yes but your gonna have to drill a hole int the upper intake and tap it for air intake temp sensor. its on your drivers side. and the coolant lines are different on the explorer.

You can find the Explorer, used Cobra, etc. It would be a perfect match for the combo you're talking about.

Also might consider the Edelbrock Performer if you can find one, even the older design is pretty good and you can find 'em for cheap. Professional Products makes a knock off design of it as well.
