I know every car and driver have different results but what is needed to get a full weight 6 speed gt500 to hit tens with a 1.70 sixty.
I have an 07 with 675rwhp nto5 nitto dr and some rear suspension mods.I bought the car late in the year and couldn't get it to the track.

Depends on:
- race weight
- driving efficiency
- power
- climate/altitude considerations
- traction

Thus, at minimum, breaking into the 10's should be possible with 1) race weight of 4,000 lbs, 2) above average "speed" shifting at 6,200+/- rpm, 3) RWHP in the 600 range, 4) DA of +500 or below, and 5) sixty foot time of 1.70 seconds.

Obviously, any manipulation of any of these variables will make it easier or harder to accomplish.

Ok thanks.I need to change the heavy 07 lower pulley out and was going to put a 10% on.The car has 4k miles on it and I don't want to push my luck with the stock rods.I think traction will be the only key to getting my 10 sec. slip.....cant wait till spring.

Sounds like you've been down a strip before so I don't think it will be a problem as long as you get some good heat in the tires.

Ive been racing 25 years but it is always a battle with these cars.I had an 03 cobra and it would make a great pass and go up again it would bog or blow the tires off.I just sold a 9second notch street car and wanted to give a gt500 a try.

I have seen cars with this kind of power cut 1.7 sixty foot times and not run 10's.....

I think it will in early spring or late fall.I think it will need a lower but then you get to the breaking point and race gas.

The Nittos never worked well for me. I just picked up some Hoosier DR and expect to have better luck. You have more than enough power.

i know you wont like this answer but put a auto in it and run 9s skip the 10s

I would never put an auto in a gt500.I would do another fox if I wanted to run at the strip...... just wanted to make sure I had my friends 11.30 firebird covered.lol

Try a set of full slicks and dump that sucker just under 5k and cut a 1.5 60', you'll get that 10 sec pass.
