I never said anything about aero as we've been given downforce numbers at a given speed but never anything about drag in the context of the Base spoiler/Gurney flap vs the GT4 wing. MT reported the following... "Ford invited us to the adjacent, prepped dragstrip to see if its claim of a "sub-11-second quarter mile" was possible in a base GT500 fitted with the Michelin PS4S tires. Ford chose the base car over the R because it said the PS4S has nearly the same longitudinal grip as the PSC2, and the R's aero drag would produce slower trap speeds at the end of the dragstrip." From here. Jim Owens, who jumps all over the place, hints at which version is faster at the strip in the following video, at about the 6 minute mark. Owens again in Road and Track... "Owens explained to us that the GT500 will essentially come in two flavors based on how you want to use it. The base-model GT500 will be the quickest in a straight line, while versions equipped with the "Carbon Fiber Handling Package" will be optimized for track duty..... According to Owens, both models will be wickedly quick, but the downforce (and drag) from the Handling Package (error - should read CFTP) car's two-position rear wing might make it slightly slower in a straight line compared to the base model car. From here. Just a few "stupid" comments from those that know nothing about the cast in stone internet physics experts that know everything.
