Picked up this Colt Combat Unit rail gun in 9mm from a good friend yesterday. Good slide to frame fit, and locks up good. I believe it has an ion bond finish which is sturdy as heck, which is good since this thing will get beat on shoving it in and out of kydex. I put an S&A magwell on it and going to run it in a match Saturday. I might change the mag catch as the one from Colt has an awfully stiff spring.

I managed to bend the ejector with the first 100 rounds. Second Colt 9MM I've done that to. Sending it back tomorrow. I has a sad.Beautiful! Just Beautiful! I am a huge fan of Colts. Currently I own 9 Colts. All of them I love and are a pleasure to shoot. You can say what you want about Colt, but there will always be in my opinion the company that sets the bar of 1911 models.
I was able to shoot it and the 48 today. I will definitely be getting the 43X and selling my 43. Actually pulled my Trijicon HDs off the 43. When the Glock imposed sales embargo is over I can go pick one up and have it ready to go.Really bummed the mags don’t interchange with the 43. Also not sure how I feel about the slide color. That said I’d still like to rent, shoot one at the range.

Personally, I dont care about the mag interchange thing. Though I agree they should havd been made to.
It's interesting how adding a mm here and taking one away there really makes the gun feel better or worse though. In the case of the 43X vs the 43 it definitely feels better.

MSRP is like 550 or something. Which is always higher than the actual retail. I think the preorders I saw were in the 460 range. It's supposed to be priced right at the current 43 pricing. I know for sure Blue Label is only 358.Ugh you’re not making this easy for me lol. What’s msrp ?

Looks nice. Whose mags are you running? Here's my 9mm Colt XSE. I added the Kimber Mag Well, and Traditional Colt Commander Hammer, Colt Short Trigger and safety. I haven't had any ejector issues.

I used to love Colt, but I've not had much luck with the brand in the past couple of years. It took them over a year to send me a replacement magazine for my Delta Elite under warranty.
I now have a Wiley Clapp Government Model that I bought and was so excited about. It was the biggest letdown. It shoots to the left, ejects shell casings at my forehead, rattles like a ton can from the slop in the palm safety and the thumb safety cut my lower knuckle joint on my thumb when shooting it for the first time. It's with a gunsmith currently being made a good 1911.

I had Colt Competition and had the same problem. Slide to frame slop rattle, shot to left ,and thumb safety was loose. Every time i pick up a Colt at the LGS I return it, walk to the next counter pick up a Dan Wesson and checkout. The only Colt i picked up that i liked was the Colt Special Combat for 1,800.00 from their custom shop.

Just a word of caution. The Wilson ETMs stand "taller" than the Colt mags, as well as others, and come in contact with the bottom of the long ejector on the Colt 9MM 1911's. I've bent one Colt 9mm ejector with the Wilson mags, and I'm sending another Colt back to Colt for another bent ejector. The previous owner was running ETMs as well.Wilson Combat Elite Tactical Mags. They work the best so far. I had to change the slide stop on my Kimber 9mm 1911 to a Wilson Combat because the slide would stay open on the last shot with the Wilson Mags. Once I changed the slide stop it worked flawlessly but I didn't have that issue with my Colt.
The SC is still 500 overpriced IMO. I ordered the custom pelican case USMC and after 6 months finally took delivery of it. The thing rattled like a tambourine. I was embarrassed for colt for what a POS it was for a $2500 gun. Fit of safety was terrible, finish was terrible. I rejected transfer and demanded my money back. First and last Colt. I dont really see what the attraction is - must be the horse.

The Wilson ejectors are much shorter (like everyone else's) than Colts. Not sure why Colts are so long. First time I've sent one out myself. I discovered I can take it to the Walgreen's FedEx counter right up the road if it has a manufacturer RMA shipping label on it (according to a friend who has done it here), and the FFL I use is even closer, so we'll see how that goes.I
I'll have to get a few Wilson combat ejectors for the 9mm and keep them on hand. I do all my own gunsmithing. I won't send a gun out. I don't want the hassle of shipping them and find an FFL to receive it in for me.
