I've got a leak in the heat exchanger (the intercooler tank is dry, the front of the hx is wet and coolant is dripping from the wet area. Is it possible to fill it with water just to get it to the shop (2-3 miles) without damaging anything?

yes, your car will actually run cooler with water only.
