well actually the Cobra is my brothers, but we live together and he just bought it. The car is immaculate. no accidents, no heavy mods aside from an SLP exhaust system, MSD coil packs and wires, an old looking Densecharger cold air intake.

We have to change the rear diff gasket, but other than that and cleaning the air filter, the car is a gem.

can anyone tell me the specs on the rear gears ?? I have been searching these forums, and found so many answers.

and is this page correct ?? >> 1998 Ford SVT Mustang Cobra Specifications

well, thanks for having me here, hope to chat with more of you soon.

Sounds like a clean car . If they are stock gears then they are 3:27's and would make a great coffee table decoration. Welcome to you and your brother to SVTP:beer:

Stock gears are the 3.27s as said.
While the rear cover is off, stuff in some 4.30s!

Welcome and no the rpms won't be that high but do some research to come to your own conclusions on what you want as far as gears you will hear the majority say 4:30's or higher some might even say 28:13's. Best of luck and welcom.

haha, thanks, I was only kidding bout the RPMS. Ive been reading alot lately. seems 4.10s are the preferred gears.

Question: is the stock rear a posse rear ? did SVT do anything to the rear ?

With 4.30s your brother would be roughly 2200 at 60 mph. at 80 you're brother will be at 3000 rpms
Ask around on the forums. 4.30s or nothing. lol

so if the rear is posse, why did the car lay down only one black strip? could this be a sign of something broken ? there is no odd noise or vibes. hmm

Probably needs new clutch packs. Use the ones for a 03 Cobra if you are going to rebuild it because they are stronger.

new clutch packs hmmm. thanks for the heads up. I need to find some dedicated info on the rear end. Im planning on taking off the rear cover this week, to change the gasket and check the gears.

That's the one! Are you the actual owner?
I just purchased the entire diff with the cf clutches for $240 shipped, but you'll need to swap to 31 splines if you swap the entire diff

That's 31 spline also. You'll need to buy new axles to go along with it.
I'd skip the $450 Eaton and go with the $240 Termi diff
