I'll bet'cha dollars to doughnuts that the CV joint was built and installed DRY. Yes, you have to GREASE a CV joint when you rebuild or install them. I've done dozens in my day and every single one came with a grease packet that required the tech to grease the ball bearings and cups. Hate to say it, but don't hold your breath on getting your shipping costs back. Put it on a credit card and dispute it when you get the bill because that's about the only way you'll get it back. Refusing to refund shipping costs is a OLD trick I've seen used many many times in the past. They have you by the shorthairs, if you want a new shaft. Phill
